Product Description |
Written in concert with Adobe's development of the Photoshop Lightroom 2 Beta, The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers - by #1 bestselling computer and technology author, Scott Kelby - is the most complete and concise Lightroom "how-to" book for digital photographers of all skill levels.
In The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers, Scott walks readers through the basics of Lightroom use, leading them to a brilliantly devised and super efficient digital photography workflow that dramatically improves productivity and allows photographers to spend less time processing photos and more time shooting them.
Throughout the book Scott shares his personal camera and Lightroom settings, as well as the studio-tested techniques he's developed for his own photography workflow. The book is written in his trademark step-by-step, plain English style, and because he knows what really works and what doesn't, he isn't shy to tell you flat out which tools to use, which to avoid, and why. This allows digital photographers of any skill level to jump right in using Lightroom like a pro from the very start, sidestepping a lot of the frustrations that typically haunt those unfamiliar with new applications…especially those as powerful as Lightroom.
What really sets The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers apart from other Lightroom books on the market are the last two bonus chapters where Scott answers the questions, "In exactly what order am I supposed to do things in Lightoom," and "Where does Photoshop fit in to the mix?" Both chapters start with an on-location photo shoot, including full details on the equipment, camera settings, and lighting techniques. Readers then witness as he takes the photos from each shoot through the entire workflow process, to the final output of the 16"x20" prints. And, because he incorporates Photoshop seamlessly right into this workflow, you'll learn some of the latest Photoshop techniques for portrait and landscape photography as well.
If you're one of those people who learns best by actually doing the projects yourself; who learns best without all the complicated technical explanations and confusing jargon, and if you really want to start using Lightroom today to unlock the productivity secrets of "The new digital photography workflow,"---there is no faster, more "straight-to-the-point" or more fun way to learn than this groundbreaking new book, and you are absolutely going to love it! |

A good book! |
|
The book, Lightroom2 by Scott Kelby, is a good resource book for those learning one of the best ways to manage thousands of photos on their computer. Scott spends much time describing how to set-up a photo management system. He does it such a matter-of-fact way that it makes learning Lightroom2 sound simplistic. Once one begins to employ the lessons does one learn that Lightroom is a full feature program that allows for so many ways to use it that it is a good idea to have a roadmap (Kelby's book) before beginning the journey. A year ago I migrated from Microsoft to Apple because I wanted to do advanced work in photo editing and presentation work. The books by Kelby on photography and on how to use Adobe Photoshop and its related programs have saved me much time and frustration. |

Lightroom 2 review |
This is a well written and illustrated instruction manual on the use of Lightroom 2. It is very complete and progresses in a logical and understandable manner.
The author, Scott Kelby, is a master at explaining the features of this software. He is quite erudite in his explainations and this may be far more information than is necessary for the use of this product.
The text is quite useful as a reference to all the features of Lightroom and is a welcome addition to any digital library. |

Great for Step by Step instructions. |
|
This is my second Kelby book book, and it's better than ever. If you are the kind of person that likes step-by-step instructions with lots of visual images, this is the book for you. Scott doesn't get deep into the "why" things work, but focuses on "how". If you need to know the why, consider another publication. And yes, Kelby does a few jokes here and there, but it make for more interesting reading in my opinion. |

Must for all editing pros |
|
I'm a professional photographer and had been using Lightroom for over a year before I got this book and probably edited close to 30,000 pictures with the software. I thought I new Lightroom pretty well until I came across this book in the bookstore and was amazed by all I still had to learn. This book is incredibly easy to understand with step-by-step instructions. |

Everyone needs a Lightroom Book |
I've been using Lightroom 1 for a couple of years and I am pretty good with software. So I just "played around" with it and thought I was getting reasonable use of Lightroom for an amateur photobuff. But after reading this book, I realized I was just scratching the surface. Lightroom is a whole new way of thinking and integrating a workflow into your life is more than just fancy buzzwords.
I won't repeat the other review contents, but I want to emphasis, get this book (or another book like Martin Evening's). You'll get a lot more out of Lightroom that way. |
